About the role
The Clinical Informatics Analyst plays a key role in bridging clinical practice with digital health technologies, supporting the safe, effective, and user-centred design and implementation of clinical information systems at Barwon Health. Working closely with clinicians, informatics specialists, technical teams, and project stakeholders, the role contributes to the organisation’s 12-month enterprise Electronic Medical Record (EMR) readiness by analysing clinical workflows, gathering requirements, and ensuring digital solutions align with clinical practice, regulatory standards, and strategic priorities. The position also supports system testing, change management, training, and clinician engagement to ensure successful adoption of digital solutions that enhance patient care and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Represent medical stakeholders in EMR readiness activities by facilitating engagement, workflow mapping, capturing clinical requirements, and ensuring medical perspectives are reflected in system design, implementation planning, and change readiness.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand workflows and translate them into digital requirements.
- Conduct information gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis to inform system enhancements and digital solution design that aligns to strategically to EMR readiness.
- Support the design, configuration, and optimisation of clinical information systems at Barwon Health that align strategically to EMR readiness.
- Assist in the development and execution of test plans, user acceptance testing, and validation of clinical workflows.
- Assist and support the design, implementation and evaluation of education and training reference guides for relevant medical workflows.
- Participate in Barwon Health and SWARH governance forums to ensure alignment with clinical safety standards, regulatory requirements, and digital governance frameworks.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and current unrestricted AHPRA General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completed at least 2 years of clinical practice in Australia as a resident (Hospital Medical Officer), preferably in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare delivery in a hospital or community setting.
- Experience with clinical information systems.
- Knowledge of clinical safety, data quality, and digital health standards.
