About the role

The role of Cardiothorasic Surgeon is to provide inpatient and outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgical Services to the Geelong Hospital, Barwon Health 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Cardiothoracic surgical services across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care for public and private patients.

• Provide clinical leadership and collaboration, including consultative support to other departments, participation in after-hours rosters, and contribution to clinical standards and multidisciplinary care.

• Maintain excellence in clinical governance and documentation, ensuring comprehensive communication, accurate medical records, participation in audit activities, and compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.

• Contribute to teaching, research and medical education, including supervision of medical students, participation in clinical education programs, and involvement in research initiatives.

• Promote quality, safety and professional standards, including adherence to OHS requirements, incident reporting, continuous professional development, and active participation in quality improvement activities

What we’re looking for

• Medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

• Demonstrated post-fellowship experience as an independent Cardiothoracic Surgeon, with audited operative practice.

• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
