About the role

Barwon Health is launching a Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) service. An innovative, 10-bed sub-acute residential program supporting young people (16–25) as an alternative to hospital admission or as a step-down from inpatient care.

YPARC delivers recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, youth mental health care in a 24/7 supported, home-like environment focused on functional recovery, independence, and community connection.

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) plays a key leadership role within the YPARC team, providing effective shift coordination, clinical leadership and operational support to ensure the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused care. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, the ANUM supports consumers and their families/carers through therapeutic engagement, clinical assessment, care planning and evidence-based interventions that promote recovery and wellbeing.

The ANUM will undertake in-charge responsibilities during off-duty periods of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), deputise for the NUM as required, and contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment. This role includes a rotating roster, including some night duty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide shift leadership and coordinate day-to-day YPARC operations
  • Deliver recovery-focused, trauma informed mental health nursing care
  • Support and guide staff while fostering a safe therapeutic environment

What We Are Looking For

You are a passionate and experienced Mental Health Nurse who thrives in a collaborative and recovery-oriented environment. You bring strong leadership, communication and clinical skills, with the ability to support both consumers and staff within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

You are committed to person centred, trauma informed and inclusive care, and have a genuine passion for supporting young people and their recovery journeys. You will demonstrate sound clinical judgement, adaptability and the ability to lead and support teams across a rotating roster environment.

This is an opportunity to build and shape a new service, delivering meaningful outcomes for young people and the broader community.
