About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the Ward
The Rapid Assessment and Planning Unit (RAPU) is a 16-bed short-stay Medical Unit for patients from the Emergency Department that need a short admission and will benefit from intensive, routine allied health input. A multidisciplinary team approach is used to develop a plan of care for a safe and effective discharge from hospital within 48 hours to 76 hours.
About the role
The Rapid Assessment Unit (RAPU) Medical ward is looking for a highly motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join the leadership team. The ANUM takes a leadership role in strategic and daily operations of the unit with well-developed problem-solving abilities a must. Your role will be within a dynamic and supportive unit where teamwork is paramount. You must have highly developed interpersonal skills as well as sound communication skills both written and verbal. You will have a passion to provide high quality patient care, the ability to work a rotating roster and an interest in quality improvement, leadership and change management.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Delivering consumer centered care that meets best practice standards and is in line with Barwon Health requirements
- Providing quality patient care using an evidence-based approach
- Participation in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies is maintained
- Takes a leadership role in strategic and daily issues with well-developed problem-solving abilities
- Sound level of nursing skills and is easily identified as a role model of clinical competence
- Sound knowledge of team function and ability to work and support a cohesive team
