About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the Gastroenterology Ward
Birdsey Wing 7 is a 16 bed ward, encompassing gastroenterology and general medicine. The staff are highly skilled, professional, friendly and dedicated, taking pride in providing high quality, safe healthcare. The ward is located at University Hospital Geelong in the heart of central Geelong, and only minutes from the picturesque waterfront and a short drive to some of Australia's best beaches.
About the role
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will ensure the effective provision of patient care in the assistance of nursing staff in the areas of patient welfare, comfort, hygiene and transport in order to achieve and maintain quality patient outcomes.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Delivering consumer centered care that meets best practice standards and is in line with Barwon Health requirements
- Providing quality patient care using an evidence-based approach
- Participation in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies is maintained
- Takes a leadership role in strategic and daily issues with well-developed problem-solving abilities
- Sound level of nursing skills and is easily identified as a role model of clinical competence
- Sound knowledge of team function and ability to work and support a cohesive team
