About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About Maternity Services
Barwon Health provides pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal care for both high and low risk pregnancies. The number of births per annum is around 2950. Antenatal care is provided in both hospital and community sites. We have a Maternity Assessment Unit adjacent to the Birth Unit. The Birth Unit has 8 birth rooms, and the Maternity Ward has 24 beds, a Postnatal Care in the home service and a Lactation service.
About this role
In this role you will lead a team of midwives who will plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of midwifery care to achieve desired clinical outcomes. At the same time recognising the needs and acknowledging the dignity, culture and values of all patients and their families. You will empower all people and their families within a service that embraces both continuity of philosophy and consistency of advice and information. You will lead a team of midwives who provide direct patient care, in the Birth Suite and Maternity Assessment Unit, through a consumer centred approach and within scope of practice.
