About the role
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced professional to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of Barwon Health’s infrastructure, fleet and facilities. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of asset lifecycles across a diverse portfolio, including buildings, plant and equipment, medical and non-medical appliances, roads, pathways, drainage, grounds and vehicles.
You will lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Barwon Health Asset Management Plan and Asset Register, ensuring accurate asset data, condition reporting and lifecycle costing to support informed decision-making and long-term planning.
A key aspect of the role includes coordinating procurement and tender processes for Facilities & Engineering services, as well as developing business cases, grant submissions and funding applications to support asset renewal and infrastructure improvements. You will also oversee fleet management and car parking services across the organisation, ensuring these services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with organisational requirements.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety and sustainability of Barwon Health’s essential infrastructure and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of asset management, maintenance and operational strategies to ensure safe, reliable and compliant infrastructure and services across all sites.
- Oversee lifecycle management of assets, including planning, maintenance programs, condition monitoring and performance optimisation to maximise asset reliability, safety and value.
- Manage asset-related budgeting, financial planning, reporting and business case development to support informed investment decisions and long-term asset sustainability.
- Provide specialist advice and leadership in project delivery, capital works, procurement and contractor management, ensuring alignment with organisational and operational requirements.
- Lead compliance, risk management and operational governance activities, including legislative requirements, emergency planning, business continuity and stakeholder engagement to ensure continuity of services.
What we’re looking for
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Engineering, Risk Management or a related discipline, with demonstrated capability in a similar role.
- Extensive experience in facilities management, building services, asset maintenance and infrastructure replacement within complex, large-scale environments.
- Strong knowledge of engineering/building systems, maintenance practices, occupational health and safety legislation, and relevant employment and industrial agreements.
- Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors, with the ability to effectively engage and communicate with stakeholders across all levels and professions.
- Experience in asset lifecycle management, maintenance planning and delivery within environments involving large asset portfolios and programmed maintenance schedules (health sector experience highly regarded).
