About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the role
As an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) you will work within the Multidisciplinary Teams to deliver high quality evidence-based therapy to patients in our sub-acute (Rehab) wards.
Under the supervision of a treating Physiotherapist, you will provide individually tailored therapy support as requested, which could include - exercise programs, facilitating mobility to minimise functional decline and provide early rehabilitation, sourcing and coordinating loan equipment for discharge, and assisting Allied Health clinicains with patient therapy Your role will be intrinsic to progressing patients to an optimal outcome.
You will also undertake a range of non-clinical duties to support the provision of Allied Health services (eg. administration, gait-aid and equipment collection and cleaning).
You may be responsible for AHA student supervision and mentoring of junior AHA staff. You will receive suitable clinical support from our experienced and skilled Physiotherapy team.
The successful applicant will have suitable qualifications that meet the selection criteria, as well as employed experience working in a healthcare setting with patients around exercise and individual therapy.
