Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. About the role
As an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) you will work within the Physiotherapy and broader inter-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality evidence-based therapy to inpatients in our Orthopaedic acute ward.
Under the supervision of a treating Physiotherapist you will provide individually tailored exercise programs, facilitate mobility to minimise functional decline and provide early rehabilitation to progress the patient to an optimal discharge destination. You will be provide education about the current evidence for exercise after orthopaedic surgery and it's benefits, and facilitate engagement in appropriate outpatient education services in our region. You will assist to improve the wellbeing and experience of patients in the acute setting.
You will also undertake a range of non-clinical duties to support the provision of Physiotherapy services (eg. administration, gait-aid and equipment collection and cleaning). You may be responsible for AHA student supervision and mentoring of junior AHA staff. You will receive suitable clinical support from our experienced and skilled Physiotherapy team.
The successful applicant will have suitable qualifications that meet the selection criteria, as well as employed experience working in a healthcare setting with patients around exercise.
