About the role
As an Interdisciplinary Allied Health Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of patients within the Surgical Services wards at University Hospital Geelong, including Orthopaedic and General Surgery patients.
Working under the supervision of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and the broader multidisciplinary team, you will assist in delivering evidence-based therapy programs that promote mobility, independence and safe discharge planning. This may include exercise programs, mobility support, equipment provision, patient education, and functional assessments.
You will also contribute to interdisciplinary care across Speech Pathology and Dietetics where required, and support non-clinical service functions including equipment management, administration and documentation. This role offers strong supervision, ongoing learning and the opportunity to work as part of a highly supportive Allied Health team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centred, evidence-based therapy interventions under the direction of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
- Support mobility, exercise programs and rehabilitation activities to improve functional outcomes and discharge readiness
- Assist with equipment provision, patient education and interdisciplinary therapy support across multiple clinical areas
- Contribute to non-clinical service tasks including documentation, equipment cleaning, administration and student support
What we’re looking for
- Certificate IV or higher in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent health-related qualification (or relevant tertiary study)
- Experience or interest in working within a hospital or healthcare rehabilitation setting
- Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Highly organised, adaptable and motivated approach with a commitment to patient-centred care and continuous learning
