About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant Grade 3 to join the Speech Pathology team at University Hospital Geelong. Working alongside another Allied Health Assistant and under the supervision and delegation of Speech Pathologists, you will support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care across inpatient and outpatient acute services.

This role supports patients with communication, cognition, swallowing and middle airway disorders through both clinical and non-clinical interventions. You will contribute to therapy programs, outpatient clinic coordination, instrumental assessment preparation and multidisciplinary rehabilitation activities within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

The role offers variety, ongoing learning opportunities and involvement across both Speech Pathology and broader multidisciplinary Allied Health services. Flexibility in working days is available, however availability on Wednesdays and Fridays is preferred to support five days a week AHA Service.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with outpatient referral screening, clinic coordination and support for Speech Pathology services
  • Support instrumental assessments including videofluoroscopy and flexible endoscopic swallow and voice procedures
  • Deliver prescribed individual and group therapy programs to support swallowing, communication and broader multidisciplinary rehabilitation goals
  • Assist with inpatient and outpatient Speech Pathology and multidisciplinary inpatient Allied Health interventions

 

What we’re looking for

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification/study in a relevant Allied Health discipline
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently while delivering safe, person-centred and culturally inclusive care
  • A motivated and adaptable approach with commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
