About the role
As an Emergency Department Administrative Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients, families and clinical teams in a fast-paced emergency environment. Working as part of a supportive and flexible administration team, you’ll provide patient-focused service and essential administrative support to help ensure the smooth running of the Emergency Department.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients, families and visitors with compassion, professionalism and respect.
- Manage patient registrations, admissions, discharges and transfers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Provide administrative support to medical and nursing staff, including managing enquiries, clinical documentation and patient records.
- Collect and maintain accurate patient information to support reporting, billing and funding requirements.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and respond effectively to changing priorities in a busy environment.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality customer service in a challenging, customer-facing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional approach.
- The ability to multitask, problem-solve and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven computer literacy, attention to detail and the ability to learn new systems.
- A flexible, team-focused approach and the ability to work rostered shifts as required.
Previous experience in an Emergency Department or other medical environment, along with knowledge of medical terminology, will be highly regarded.
About The Emergency Department
On average, the Emergency Department at University Hospital Geelong treats more than 200 plus people on any weekday, and even more people on weekends and during holiday periods. The Department has dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, paediatric, resuscitation, trauma and mental health areas and provides a service that ensures high quality, safe, people-focused care.
