  • Build your career with Victoria’s largest regional health service
  • Join a supportive, high-performing team making a real community impact
  • Temporary full-time role | 86 hours per fortnight | Protected teaching and non-clinical time

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Paediatric Registrar to join our team from February 2027 for 6-12 months. This is a full-time inpatient-based role offering broad clinical exposure, structured teaching, and excellent supervision.  While there may be some flexibility to discuss alternative hours, the role operates on a six-week rotating roster, with different shift patterns each week, including night shifts. As such, the position may not readily accommodate a regular part-time arrangement on set days, unless a suitable job-share arrangement can be established

  • Participate in a six-week rotating inpatient roster, with dedicated rotations across the children’s ward, Special Care Nursery, and Hospital in the Home (HITH)
  • Participate in evening and night shifts as part of a 1:6 roster
  • Access dedicated weekly teaching and protected non-clinical time
  • Benefit from excellent clinical supervision, with two inpatient paediatricians on site during business hours to support trainees and oversee inpatient care
  • Train within a service accredited for RACP Advanced Training in General Paediatrics, covering both PREP and the new curriculum
  • Gain additional clinical exposure through developmental and rapid review outpatient clinics as part of the rotation

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver supervised clinical care in inpatient settings, including patient assessment, investigation, management, and discharge planning
  • Participate in paediatric inpatient care, including admission assessments, daily ward reviews, care coordination, and liaison with families and carers
  • Support continuity of care through referral management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination with community healthcare providers and external teams
  • Provide clinical input for acute presentations, attend emergency consultations, and assist with the assessment and management of patients requiring hospital admission

What we’re looking for

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in inpatient paediatric care, including patient assessment, clinical management, and discharge planning
  • Minimum of six months’ experience in neonatal care
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and coordinate care with families and external healthcare providers
  • Commitment to high-quality clinical care, patient safety, and professional standards
