About the role
Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care across primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care to more than 500,000 people.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) unit at Barwon Health is a growing and dynamic service, recognised as a centre of excellence providing a full spectrum of OMFS care including deformity correction, trauma, oncology (including microvascular reconstruction), TMJ surgery and management of complex pathology.
The unit consists of 5–6 contemporary trained consultants with subspecialty expertise and offers a high level of supervision, diverse case mix and strong commitment to patient-centred care and training. The service has become a highly sought-after rotation due to its clinical exposure, training opportunities and supportive environment.
The Unaccredited OMS Registrar plays a key role in delivering clinical care through participation in outpatient clinics, inpatient ward management and operating theatre activities, including dentoalveolar surgery under local anaesthesia. You will assist in surgical procedures, coordinate investigations and contribute to multidisciplinary care within both hospital and community settings.
The role includes participation in a 1:4 on-call roster and close collaboration with accredited registrars, consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams including dental practitioners and Oral Health Services staff.
This role provides a valuable stepping stone for those pursuing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, offering essential clinical experience and exposure to support applications for RACDS-accredited pathways, including referee support and guidance from consultants.
You will be part of a highly skilled and professional team that values respect, collaboration and continuous development within a supportive learning environment.
Located in Geelong, this role offers an exceptional lifestyle with access to coastal, suburban and regional living, excellent schools and proximity to the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road.
