About the role

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Unaccredited Registrar role provides the opportunity to work within a small, inclusive and highly skilled cardiothoracic unit delivering cardiac and thoracic surgical care to the population of South Western Victoria. You will support four Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeons and gain hands-on experience in a wide range of procedures, including coronary bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, lung resections, robotic thoracic surgery and minimally invasive techniques. The role offers strong clinical exposure, regular teaching and close collegial support, with participation in after-hours, on-call and recall rosters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the delivery of cardiac and thoracic surgical care
• Participate in surgical procedures, inpatient care, clinical meetings and patient consultations
• Contribute to general reporting and day-to-day unit operations
• Participate in the after-hours, on-call and recall roster as required

• Medical qualifications and aptitude relevant to an unaccredited registrar role in cardiothoracic surgery
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork, learning and high-quality patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including Cardiology, ICU, Respiratory Medicine and Oncology
• Commitment to professional development and contributing positively to an inclusive, values-driven workplace
