About the role
The position of Urology Registrar is to provide effective supervised day to day clinical management of both ambulatory and admitted patients to the Urological Surgery Unit. Participation in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall as required by the unit. The Urology Unit has a high service load but also has an emphasis on teaching and research
Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Management: Provide comprehensive assessment and management of Urological Surgery patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, prioritising care based on clinical urgency and complexity.

Care Planning & Escalation: Develop and implement patient management plans, coordinate investigations, prescribe medications safely, and appropriately escalate care to Unit Consultants to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Admissions, Ward Care & Discharge: Lead patient admissions and clerking, contribute actively to ward rounds, and ensure timely, high-quality discharge summaries and documentation.

Clinical Governance & Professional Development: Maintain professional and ethical standards, demonstrate effective time management, participate in education, audit, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Leadership, Teaching & Teamwork: Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and provide teaching and supervision to junior medical staff and students.

Departmental & After-Hours Responsibilities: Participate in registrar on-call and after-hours rosters, outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, research activities, and support the operational requirements of the Urology Unit.
What we’re looking for
- Medical qualifications registrable in Australia (AHPRA Medical Registration).
- Registered as a medical practitioner in Victoria, either general or specific linked to a specific professional college training program
- Demonstrated sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills and ethical behaviour required of medical practitioners
- Participation in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall as required by the unit.
