About the role
The Unaccredited Radiation Oncology Registrar provides high‑quality clinical support across outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary coordination. The role is responsible for conducting patient assessments in consultant‑led clinics, contributing to treatment planning, and ensuring timely, accurate clinical documentation. The registrar plays a key role in the day‑to‑day management of oncology inpatients, including reviewing patients, organizing investigations, escalating concerns appropriately, and supporting safe transitions of care. A strong emphasis is placed on effective communication and collaboration with medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver integrated, patient‑centered cancer care within a multidisciplinary environment.
The Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC) is a leading cancer service dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient‑centered care to the Barwon South West community. Key Responsibilities

Patient-Centred Radiation Oncology Care: Deliver compassionate, respectful care, providing patients with clear, timely information and actively involving them in treatment decisions.

Clinical Management & Communication: Develop, document, and communicate radiation oncology management plans effectively with consultants and clinical teams.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in tumour streams and multidisciplinary clinics to optimise treatment planning and patient outcomes.

Acute & Emergency Care: Respond promptly to oncology-related emergencies, including assessment of acute presentations in the Emergency Department as required.

Education & Supervision: Supervise and support HMOs, contribute to teaching of junior doctors and medical students, and participate in departmental and statewide Radiation Oncology registrar education programs.

Research & Professional Development: Engage in research activities and support continuous professional development aligned with Radiation Oncology training requirements
What we’re looking for

Medical Qualifications & Registration: MBBS (or equivalent) from an accredited institution with current (or eligible) general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Postgraduate Experience: Minimum PGY2 with satisfactory completion of prevocational training.

Clinical Knowledge & Skills: Sound understanding of general medical and oncological principles, including assessment and management of acutely unwell patients.

Clinical Assessment & Escalation: Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive assessments, develop management plans, and escalate care appropriately.

Relevant Experience: Experience in oncology, palliative care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or surgery is desirable but not essential
