About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

The renal unit consists of 9 nephrologists working closely alongside a multidisciplinary team including Renal Nurse Practitioner, Vascular Access Nurse, CKD Nurse, Renal Transplant Nurse, Dialysis Nurses, Social Workers and Renal Dieticians.  We look after over 2000 patients across the Barwon and South West region, and serve approximately 170 dialysis patients with a strong focus on home therapy.  We accept patients back from their transplanting centre from discharge (usually around day 7). 

 

About the role

The successful applicant will have been matched to the Barwon Health Nephrology Advanced Training position through the Nephrology PMCV match. 

Responsibilities:

-       Lead the renal JMS team, currently consisting of the renal AT, one general medicine BPT3 and two BPT1s

-       Admission and ongoing review of renal inpatients and timely assessment and review of renal consults, under supervision of consultant on call

-       Attendance at renal outpatient clinics

-       Support of the renal dialysis and home therapies units

-       Attendance at unit meetings

-       Participation in the renal on-call roster

-       Clear, timely and respectful communication with all stakeholders
