About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

About the Dermatology Department
Our department services the entire Western Victoria catchment and is the only public dermatology service between Adelaide and Footscray. Accordingly, we see an extremely diverse demographic and dermatology case mix. We are one of the very few health services which provide adult and paediatric dermatology clinics. Additionally, we a multidisciplinary vulval clinic, supervised surgery list, and a public laser clinic available to children and adults. We also provide an in-patient consult service. Also have close ties with Deakin Medical School and encourage ongoing teaching, research and quality improvement.

 

About the Role

The role of the dermatology HMO is to facilitate management of outpatients by the Dermatology Unit.

Responsiblities include;

  • Attendance in clinic as rostered by your unit
  • Administering surgical and laser treatment of malignant and benign skin conditions when appropriate
  • Following up and actioning test results including notifying patients and consultants when necessary
  • Participation in teaching when rostered by your unit
  • Regular participation in research, audits and quality improvement as specified by your clinical supervisors

 

Barwon Health currently seconds 2 dermatology registrars all day Monday, and 1 JMO from Eastern Health every Friday morning. 

There are no on call requirements for seconded doctors within the dermatology unit.
